FairAway Travel

FairAway Travel GmbH aims to illustrate to travellers the impacts of their travel behaviour and, for this purpose, has developed the Fair Travel Scale. As a result, customers are already assisted during the travel planning stage in selecting more sustainable travel options.

FairAway Travel GmbH is committed to responsible tourism. The tour operator will be introducing the Fair Travel Scale this year, allowing the impact of each holiday to be visible. The Fair Travel Scale illustrates the environmental, social, and socio-economic effects of every individual trip, aiming to encourage travellers to adopt more sustainable travel practices. It employs elements of nudging and gamification, with 25 indicators indicating positive or negative impacts on travel planning and implementation, providing travellers with comprehensive information. The project's objective is to highlight the positive, sustainable aspects of each trip while identifying areas for improvement.

Innovation
The Fair Travel Scale individually captures the environmental, social, and socioeconomic impacts of each trip, incorporating elements from the field of Nudging/Gamification to playfully encourage travellers towards a more sustainable approach to travel. An innovative feature is the automated combination of the individual measured variables and their weighting. This makes it possible for travellers to understand all dimensions of the impact in a clear and comprehensible way.
Customer Journey
By integrating playful elements during the planning and booking process, travellers are guided towards reflecting upon and ultimately improving their behavior, without sustainability being communicated in a morally instructive manner. FairAway deliberately does not want to lecture the customer morally, but provides facts and interpretations of them.  For each booking, travellers receive points as a measure of sustainability as well as suggestions for optimising their next trip. The clarity and simplicity of the communication is particularly noteworthy.
Scalability
Local agencies, customers, and travel operators provide data to the Customer Relationship Tool, serving as a data hub. Through the CRM, key performance indicators (KPIs) can be tracked, and important information can be extracted.
Curated Travel Portfolio
FairAway Travel GmbH offers tailored (round) trips to travellers. The CO2 emissions generated during long-distance journeys are fully compensated.
